Welcome to the Home Storage Solutions 101 App Store, which provides reviews and recommendations for the best apps for both Apple products and Android, for organizing your home and life, along with helping you with home management tasks.

This page is really a work in progress, and most likely will never be completely "done." There are several reasons for this, the main one being that great organizing apps come out at all the time, and there is no way I can keep track of all of them (at least not without help from you, anyway).

Since new apps come out so quickly, and technology constantly changes, the recommendations on this page will most likely be ever shifting and changing.

To make the list as comprehensive as possible, in addition to me personally testing and trying out various apps in my everyday life and reporting my thoughts about them, I'm relying on each of you to also alert me to the top apps out there.

I also have readers like you to thank for several of the recommendations below. When I've published a page on the site discussing an app, I've linked to it below so you can read what real life people think about it before downloading it to your own phone or tablet.

I'm always looking for more reviews and recommendations, so if you like an app (or tried one out and were disappointed) I would love for you to share your review with me, so I can add it to the App Store page. You can click here to skip down and share your great organizing app recommendations below.

There are several categories of apps available, so you can skip down to one of the main categories within the App Store right here:

You can search for your favorite apps right here from the Apple app store as well:

Multi-Functional & General Apps

I've only got a few recommendations in this category so far, but they are big ones.

Evernote

evernote

The first one is Evernote (click the link for reviews and uses shared by readers).

The program is designed for notetaking and archiving, but it is not for just the written word. A note can be all kinds of things, from typed information, photos, audio files, web pages, and more. Then, you can organize all these "notes" into various folders and virtual notebooks.

There is both a free and a premium version of the program available on many different platforms.

Dropbox

Dropbox

The second is Dropbox (click the link for reviews and uses shared by readers).

This is a file hosting service which offers cloud storage and file synchronization. Basically, you can upload files onto Dropbox and then they are accessible through folders on almost any of your devices, via the cloud so files are available to you basically anywhere.

There is 2GB of free storage space, and then you can upgrade your account to a paid version for more storage space, and it is available on many different platforms.

In Case of Emergency Information

Everyone should add ICE (stands for "In Case of Emergency") information to their phones. The app you choose will depend on what type of phone you've got. Here's my article about how (and why) to have an ICE app on your phone.

How and why to add an ICE app to your phone

Calendar And To Do List Apps

I've only got two recommendation in this category so far, although I know there are others people may like. If you've got one you use that you'd like to recommend please skip down to share your recommendations here.

Cozi Family Organizer

cozi family organizer

Many people have written in to share with me how much they like this app, which readers have told me they use as part of their family calendar system, for organizing recipes, creating their grocery and other shopping lists, and managing their to do list. That means it is one of the most versatile apps on this list.

In addition, multiple family members can access the information from the Cozi app, meaning you don't have to do everything yourself, but can enlist family members to help share the load around the house using the app!

Did I mention its free? You can't beat that! (Please note the base version is free, but to get premium functions there is an annual fee.)

Read Reviews From HSS101 Readers Sharing How They Use Cozi

As I mentioned, several readers have shared how they use Cozi, and why they think it is a great organizing app that should be in the Home Storage Solutions 101 App Store.

Here are some links to those pages within the site:

Errands

errands app

Errands is an app for iPhone and iPad which is a task manager, basically. It is a way to manage your to do list, with checklists, schedules, alarms, repeating tasks, calendar view, search, etc. The version listed below is free, but you can purchase a premium version (for $2.99) to sync with the Cloud.

One Facebook fan said she used this app, which is how I discovered it in the first place. In addition, I've received a review of it from Jessica, sharing how she uses the app to keep her on track.

Grocery List, Meal Planning And Recipe Apps

organizing recipes digitally

I've received quite a few recommendations for apps which can be used for organizing recipes and creating your grocery shopping list from readers.

For a more complete list than what I've shared below check out the electronic recipe organizer recommendations page.

Additional apps already recommended include the following (be sure to skip down to share your recommendations if you're favorite app is not already listed here in the Home Storage Solutions 101 App Store):

PepperPlate

A paid app, available for both Apple and Android, and which also serves the multiple functions of recipe organization, meal planning and making a grocery list is Paprika. It currently costs $4.99.

Here's a couple Paprika recipe manager reviews from readers.

MealBoard

MealBoard is a recipe-storage iPhone app that lets you plan your meals for the week and automatically generate your grocery list. It is not currently available for Andorid. It currently costs $3.99.

I've gotten several reviews of the MealBoard app, including a quite detailed one where the reader also compared it to several other recipe, grocery shopping list and meal planning apps, sharing what she liked about each one and why she settled on MealBoard.

Home Management Routines And Schedules

I've only got one app in this category of Home Storage Solutions 101's App Store right now, but I'd love to discover even more cool apps for home management tasks, such as cleaning, decluttering, etc. Remember you can skip down here to share your own app recommendations.

home routines app

The Home Routines app is based off the ideas in the Flylady system, of creating schedules and routines for your home (but is not affiliated with FlyLady). The app is currently only available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, and costs $4.99.

I first heard of this app when one of my other websites, Household Management 101 was listed as one of the "Housework Ninjas" sites from the Home Routines official website.

Household Budgeting And Finance Apps

There are definitely many more apps listed in this category than what I have below. So if you've used one that isn't listed (or have used one I've already placed below) please share your recommendations with me so I can add more to this section.

GoodBudget (Formerly Known As EEBA)

GoodBudget app

The GoodBudget app (formerly known as EEBA, for Easy Envelope Budget Aid) is a free app, available for both Apple and Android products, which is designed to use the envelope system for budgeting.

I've received a couple reviews of the GoodBudget app here.

BillTracker

BillTracker app

The BillTracker app is exactly what it sounds like, a way to track your bills including their due dates so you make sure you pay them on time.

Currently this app is available only for the iPhone and has both a paid version ($2.99) and lite version (free).

Here's a quick BillTracker review from a reader, Tamara.

Do You Have A Recommendation For The App Store?

Above are the recommendations I've made so far for the best apps for the Home Storage Solutions 101 App Store, but new apps come out all the time, or perhaps I haven't found a really great one you already use. That's where your recommendations, experience and knowledge can help me (and everyone else) out.

I'm limiting this page to apps that you can use for organizing, cleaning, decluttering, and home management, and not for games and other fun stuff which doesn't help us deal with our homes and lives. However, the categories I'm discussing are still pretty broad, so if you use an app for something useful, and want to share, I welcome your thoughts and opinions.

Below is a form where you can share your reviews, good or bad, of any apps you've tried, sharing what you like, or don't, about it and why. I can't wait to hear what you have to say!

What Great Organizing Apps Do You Use?

Do you use an app to help you organize your home, life, or to deal with home management? If so, I'd love to hear which one you use and why you love it.

Please tell me what app you use, as well as examples of how you use it in real life to help others decide if they might like to give it a try too.

To make sure all reviews are as helpful as possible, please tell me what type of smart phone, tablet or laptop operating system the app works on (such as iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, etc.) so that people can tell if they can use it or not quickly.
